Our excursions, designed for those who wish to discover the natural, scenic, and historical/cultural richness of Abruzzo, are suitable for small groups and families, but also for more experienced hikers. Our qualified guides at Dimore Montane will accompany you in complete safety and, thanks to their stories, you will be able to observe and interpret the area from a curious and informed perspective, experiencing a small adventure that is sure to be unique and memorable.
The tour starting points can be reached directly from the hotel or via our personal transfer. Basic hiking clothing is required for mountain hikes: hiking shoes, long trousers, rain jacket, rucksack, and bottle of water.

At the Dimore Montane info point you can rent trekking poles, buy maps, or receive information about the trails and our guides.

HIKE TO THE HERMITAGES OF CELESTINE V

When? Every Thursday (from June 24th to September 15th)

Follow the “trail of the spirit” (Sentiero dello Spirito) and retrace the path walked by saints and shepherds alike. Discover two important Hermitages where Celestine V lived and experience a trail with several different features like open fields, woodlands and sheer rocky walls. After departing from Dimore Montane camping, you will reach the Hermitage of San Bartolomeo, built on one side of a ravine to blend perfectly with the cliffs. The trail then continues along pastures and beech woods and leads to the Hermitage of Santo Spirito. After a packed lunch break there will be a guided tour of the Hermitage with the Ripa Rossa cooperative. A dedicated minibus will ensure your safe return to the camping.

HIKE TO THE CAVE OF SANT'ANGELO

When? Every Friday (from June 24th to September 15th)

The Cave of Sant’Angelo is an ancient place of worship visited by pilgrims and shepherds. It’s located along the path of Celestine V, nestled between rocky slopes and pristine landscapes. After departing from Dimore Montane camping you will take a sun-drenched path and walk through fields and pastures shaping a wonderful landscape. The same path will lead you back to the starting location.

SHEPHERD'S HUTS TOUR

When? Every Saturday (from June 24th to September 15th)

A circular trail along places of high historical and cultural value where you will discover the ancient agro- pastoral tradition of the locals. You will visit the main clusters of dry stone structures used as shelters or tool sheds. Return is timed with the sunset, in order to let you enjoy the view of the Gran Sasso in the soft light of the setting sun.

Escursionista sul sentiero nella vetta Brockhaus della Majella

HIKE TO BLOKCHAUS PEAK AND TO BRIGANDS' STONES

When? Every Tuesday (from June 24th to September 15th)

A hike to reach a natural overlook on the Maiella, where you can admire the wonderful peaks of the “mother of mountains” and a breathtaking view. Passing by the peak of Mount Blockhaus (stone house) 2140 msl you will reach the “brigands’ stones” (tavola dei briganti). One of the most mysterious and fascinating sites of the Maiella, where brigands of the area used to gather, leaving their names and origins engraved forever on huge flat rocks. After a lunch break with a view you will walk along beech woods through the Santo Spirito valley to go back to the starting point. This is a sun-drenched route.

TRUFFLE HUNTING TOUR

Together with Il Tartufo degli Eremi, truffle expert Ercole Di Donato and his dogs we invite you to a truffle hunting experience. After departing from the Dimore Montane camping, a short walk will take you through an area where you can learn the techniques to identify and find truffles! While on the path, you will also look for signs left by wild animals. An experience suitable for everyone, including children (age 6+).
